Concert visit: the Legendary Moheener Ghoraguli

I went to see the First Indian Rock Band: Moheener Ghoraguli.
The hilarious :-) thing was how we were greeted at the concert hall...

... as we stepped in a young woman greeted us with a friendly smile saying: "Would you like to like to enter the price draw? It is sponsored by HSBC." After which she quickly added: "It's a bank!" Obviously not everyone knows HSBC in India... :-)

The ladies received on arriving a rose and a flyer. Can you imagine what the flyer was for? Exide Matrix! A car battery! Is that what women desire?!? Anyone short of a birthday present?

The description went on with the special features of the battery...

  • completely sealed
  • special paste formulation
  • attractive cosmetics :-)

The concert was a tribute, remembering Moheener Ghoraguli. Difficult to remember - we had never heard of them before ;-)

The band was accompanied by a 18 piece string orchestra from the Bangalore School of Music. This alone was a highlight. They do not have an Alexander Technique teacher... (For those interested, contact Aruna Sunderlal, the head of the school of music)

Moheener Ghoraguli formed in the 70s, performed at the Kolkata Jazz Festival in 1980 and had a revival in the 90s. They made an interesting mix of traditional Bengal music, Jazz and Rock music.
